Ο Καποδίστριας και ο Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος έκαναν το ίδιο μοιραίο στρατηγικό λάθος. Προσπάθησαν να μετατρέψουν την Ελλάδα σε δυτικό κράτος. Δεν έλαβαν υπόψη όσο έπρεπε ότι αυτός ο λαός από την Τουρκοκρατία μέχρι σήμερα και επί αιώνες έμαθε να ζει με τους μεσάζοντες. Το ρουσφέτι και το μπαξίσι ουδέποτε έφυγαν από την χώρα μας και πώς άλλωστε αφού και εμείς το ζήσαμε μέχρι πρόσφατα. Πάντα υπήρχε κάτι να λαμβάνει ο Έλληνας και έτσι η ιδιότητα του πολίτη ήταν δευτερεύουσας σημασίας. Και οι δύο δέχτηκαν σφαίρες για τις επιλογές τους και ποτέ δεν κατέφεραν το στόχο τους. Kapodistrias and Eleftherios Venizelos (Prime Ministers of Greece in 19th and 20th century) did the same fatal strategic mistake. They tried to convert Greece into a western type country. Both did not take into account that Greek people, from the Ottoman Empire until today and for centuries learned to live with local “Lords”. Requests and bribes to these “Lords” were always present in this country and indeed we lived with them until near past. There was always something to expect for Greek people and so citizenship as a characteristic was something of secondary importance.
