The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of joint control over OSM Aviation by Norwegian of Norway and Shiphold of Cyprus. OSM Aviation provides crew management services to airlines. OSM Aviation is currently a subsidiary of Shiphold, a shipping company and ship owner. Norwegian provides passenger air transport services. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because there are no overlaps between the companies' activities. Moreover, it is highly unlikely that the transaction would result in shutting out competing airlines from access to services provided by OSM Aviation, as numerous rival service providers remain active on the market. The transaction was examined under the normal merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.7949.
