"We need many more ICT specialists in Europe. We need 160.000 ICT specialists year to year until 2020", said Commissioner Oettinger during press conference at ICT 2015 in Lisbon.
Commissioner Oettinger opened the event this morning and participated in a workshop on standards and spectrum for the next generation of communication networks, 5G. Key 5G players from the EU, China, South Korea, Japan and the US are meeting today in Lisbon.
On the agenda: how different regions can work together to accelerate the definition of 5G standards and to better co-operate on spectrum allocation for 5G.
Following the meeting, Commissioner Oettinger said: “I am delighted that 5G industrial associations from various continents agreed today to promote a common approach towards 5G developments. We need a joint vision to deliver the networks of the future across the world as soon as possible.”
