Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, patron of the FTTH Conference 2016, will open the event with a keynote speech!

The FTTH Council Europe is immensely honoured to announce that the FTTH Conference 2016, to be held in Luxembourg City on 16-18 February 2016, has received the high patronage of Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Media of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Xavier Bettel will deliver the opening speech of the FTTH Conference to an international audience of experts in telecommunications and technology, officially kicking off the biggest FTTH-related event in the world...

More than 3,000 attendees – including decision makers from the European Commission, national governments and municipalities, as well as management-level attendees from telecom operators, financing institutions, service and application providers, analysts and industry experts, academia and media – are expected to gather at the FTTH Conference. The event includes workshops, conference sessions, leading edge exhibition and hands-on demos of FTTH-enabled services.

Commenting on his patronage of the FTTH Conference 2016, Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Media, said: “High-speed connectivity is the foundation of the digital society. Luxembourg is one of the best connected countries in the world. I look forward to welcoming the world’s most pre-eminent experts and decision makers in this field at the FTTH Conference 2016.”

“The opening speech of Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will be a key contribution to the FTTH Conference as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has already a well-established ICT development strategy, with a first broadband plan already launched in 2004,” declared Edgar Aker, President of FTTH Council Europe. “The government’s Ultra-Fast broadband for all initiative has successfully placed the Grand Duchy amongst the most advanced European countries in broadband, and points to optic fibre as a key solution in the development of communications infrastructures. It is a concrete example of public support for FTTH as a long-term solution to reach the European Digital Agenda targets and beyond. We hope that holding our FTTH Conference in this country will have a repercussion throughout Europe”.
