The 2nd Aristotle International Summer Program in International Relations is going to take place from 21 to 27 August at the School of Aristotle in the city of Naoussa, Greece. This year the program tackles questions that shape the politics and economics of Europe's near abroad.

Prominent researchers and practitioners from Greece and abroad will focus on the current politics and economics of Russia, Turkey, Middle East and North Africa. Our distinguished faculty will analyze the international relations in these areas, including issues such as:
Russia's strategy from the era of Cold War to that of the rising multipolar international system;
• Challenges and prospects in the Black Sea Area;
• Current politics and economics of Turkey;
• Cooperation and conflict in the Mediterranean Sea;
• Political and economic developments in Africa;
• EU's politics and policies in the region.

Students will be able to engage with the above issues at both theoretical and policy levels. Apart from the opportunity to advance their knowledge and understanding on the discipline of International Relations and the developments in Europe's near abroad, the summer program also offers to all the participants the unique opportunity to study in a historical place of universal significance, namely the School of Aristotle where two eminent figures of the Ancient Greek civilization met, that is, Aristotle and Alexander the Great.

The Summer School is targeted at motivated undergraduate and postgraduate students and young professionals with an International Relations background, who wish to broaden their knowledge and understanding in their areas of expertise, study in an international environment and contribute to a fruitful experience. In order to be eligible, all applicants should have completed at least 1 year of university studies.

The program will last 7 days (6 nights) and will host a maximum of 35 participants from Greece and abroad.

Courses will be taught in English by an International Faculty.

Extracurricular Activities

The program includes educational and entertainment activities. Indicatively, we mention visits at the archaeological sites of Vergina, Pella and Dion, the historical site where Apostle Paul addressed to the citizens of the area, the Byzantine Museum of Veria. Furthermore, we will visit the magical forest of St. Nicholas with its springs and traditional villages around Naoussa. The program will be completed with the screening of selected short films from NIFF and with a unique wine and gastronomic experience. Winetasting of Naoussa's unique variety Xinomavro and traditional dishes of the local cuisine will offer you an unforgettable experience.

The program is organized by the Laboratory of International Relations and European Integration of the University of Macedonia and of Naoussa International Film Festival. Professor Ilias Kouskouvelis is the academic director of the program.
