Retail sales in the U.S. rose less than forecast in May, increasing 0.3 percent after a revised 0.5 percent gain in April, Commerce Department figures showed today. Separately, initial jobless claims climbed by 4,000 to 317,000 in the week ended June 7, and prices of imported goods rose 0.1 percent in May, Labor Department reports showed.
