José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Paris where he
participated in the 2nd EU Conference on Youth Employment with Herman
van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and Martin Schulz,
President of the EP. After an initial meeting in Berlin in July 2013,
the Heads of State or Government, Ministers for Labour, senior
representatives of EU institutions and social partners met to discuss
the implementation of concrete measures in the fight against youth
unemployment.
The EC had taken several initiatives to complement and support actions at national level. During the joint press conference José Manuel Barroso urged the Member States to more determination to take the full potential of different levers to fight against unemployment and in particular to put in place the necessary structures to make the "Youth Guarantee" a reality as soon as possible.
