Eίναι πράγματι παρήγορο να μαθαίνεις ότι το Eλληνοαμερικανικό Eπιμελητήριο διοργάνωσε συνέδριο με θέμα «Ηθική και Μέσα Μαζικής Ενημέρωσης». Η ηθική βέβαια εξ ορισμού της είναι υποκειμενική και αυτό δυσκολεύει τα πράγματα. Πολύ περισσότερο όταν για πολλούς είναι αδιευκρίνιστο πόσες αλήθειες υπάρχουν, μία ή πολλές; Από τη θεωρία στην πράξη υπάρχει μακρύς δρόμος, ιδιαίτερα στην Ελλάδα. Έτσι όταν βλέπεις ένα ξενοίκιαστο μαγαζί μπορεί να σκεφτείς το υψηλό ενοίκιο του ιδιοκτήτη, το υψηλό τιμολόγιο των πάλαι ποτέ κρατικών ΔΕΚΟ, το υψηλό κέρδος του ιδιοκτήτη, το υψηλό ποσοστό του Δήμου, το υψηλό ποσό του κρατικού ελεγκτή, τις ακάλυπτες επιταγές, το υψηλό ποσοστό του προμηθευτή ακόμα και το υψηλό ποσοστό του "νυχτερινού φύλακα'. Προσπαθώντας να βρεις την ηθική σε όλα τα παραπάνω το πιθανότερο είναι να χάσεις και εσύ την έννοια της ηθικής. Συνεπώς αν κάτι πρέπει να είναι θεμελιώδες στην ελληνική επιχειρηματική ηθική είναι ο ορισμός της και μόνο αυτός ίσως μας οδηγήσει στην έξοδο από το τούνελ. Το συμφέρον είναι ένα, το συλλογικό συμφέρον και η αλήθεια μία, ο τρόπος δε κατανόησης και ερμηνείας της ποικίλει και διαφέρει…
It is indeed promising to learn that Greek-American Chamber hosted a conference with topic "Ethics and Mass Media." Ethics of course by definition is subjective and this complicates things a lot. Especially when it is unclear for many people how many truths exist. Others believe that are plenty and others is only one. To transform theory into life is a hard task, especially in Greece. So when Greeks see an empty shop nowadays think many reasons for this fact. They think of the high rent of the owner, the high price of the invoices of the common wealth utilities, the high profit of the owner, the high percentage of the municipality taxes, the high amount of state auditors who ask for, the high percentage of the suppliers and even the high percentage of the “night guards”. Trying to find a moral in all the above is most likely to miss your concept of morality. So if something needs to be fundamental to Greek business ethics is the definition of business ethics in daily routine and only then this might lead us to an exit of the tunnel. The goal and the true should only be one in this case, the common interest, besides that the way of understanding and interpretation them may varies ...
